Stomach Cancer, medically recognized as gastric cancer, is a condition where malignant cells form in the lining of the stomach. This type of cancer can manifest in various forms, from a silent, slow-growing adenocarcinoma to more aggressive types.
It may present symptoms like indigestion, stomach discomfort, and nausea, but often they appear only in advanced stages, making early detection challenging. It's a disease that significantly impacts digestion and can spread rapidly if not treated promptly.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) offers a unique lens through which Stomach Cancer is viewed not just as a localized tumor but as a sign of systemic imbalance.
TCM theory suggests that this ailment arises when the harmonious balance of Yin and Yang within the body is disturbed, leading to the development of malignancy. TCM practitioners focus on restoring balance, enhancing Qi, nourishing the Blood, and removing Dampness and Stagnation, which are considered underlying conditions that contribute to cancer formation.

Diagnostic signs
Slippery (Hua), Weak (Ruo), Slowed-down (Huan), Soggy (Ru)
The tongue body is pale and often puffy or swollen, with teeth marks along the edges indicating that the body's Qi is too weak to maintain firm muscle tone. The coating is characteristically white, thick, and greasy or sticky, reflecting the accumulation of Phlegm and Dampness in the middle burner. The tongue surface may appear excessively moist or wet. In some cases the coating is thickest in the centre of the tongue, which corresponds to the Stomach and Spleen region. The pale colour reflects Qi deficiency rather than Blood deficiency or Cold, though in prolonged cases a slightly duller hue may develop.
